The wine is made to be medium bodied but intense, it has well developed tannins with strong aromas of berry backed by mint with smoky undertones that lingers on the pallet.

The Estate is proudly South African, proudly KZN and proudly Central Drakensberg. This mountain blend is a tribute to our World Heritage Site – UNESCO 985 – that celebrates the heritage of the Central Drakensberg and the first peoples that stayed in this magnificent place. We follow in their footsteps with a steadfast focus to turn this into a wine region of distinction.

Vinification
This blend is our flagship wine. It is a blend of Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine in these bottles are made from the 2014 harvest. All the wines are made separately. In this the grapes were fermented for 5 days with regular punch downs. Thereafter it was matured for at least 18 months. The Unesco blend has at least 50% Pinotage to ensure it is true to our RSA wine heritage and to this we add the Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is well made and will keep well.

Food Notes
The wine is good with red meats, casseroles and roasts - Open and leave for 20 minutes before serving - Best between 18-22 deg C

Maturation
This blend was barrel matured in 225L French Oak barrels for 48 months. The wines were then blended and bottled in 2019. This wine has been rested in the bottle for 12 months, labeling, so can be enjoyed immediately. It is ready to drink.
