The wine is full bodied and intense with loads of soft tannins. These are well integrated with the oak to give smoky undertones on the palette.

Pinotage is one of the few true RSA wines. It was first cultivated in the mid 1920’s by creating a cross from Pinot Noir and Cinsaut /Hermitage varietals.   The first commercial plantings were done in 1941.

The grapes oozes a RSA like character. The vines and robust and vigorous and the bunches that form are dense and energetic. This Pinotage is made from the first vines planted in the Central Drakensberg. It was with these vines that we learnt what it takes to make quality wines in a summer rainfall area. Our climate brings out the Pinot Noir roots to express itself and this produces a wine with clear sense of place.
